Biography
Adrian Torres Blanco has four years of experience in indirect taxation and international trade. He joined BMC in 2024, where he has specialised in VAT advisory for companies with international supply chains.
His work covers the management of intra-Community filings, fiscal representation for non-established companies in Spain for VAT purposes, and registration and compliance under the OSS and IOSS schemes for cross-border e-commerce. He advises companies on recovering VAT incurred in other member states through the refund mechanism under Directive 2008/9/EC, coordinating with local correspondents in the countries concerned.
Before joining BMC, he worked in the tax department of a logistics group, where he managed customs declarations, excise duties, and the application of tariff classifications. That practical experience in a high-turnover operational environment gave him an understanding of VAT that goes beyond formal compliance: he understands how tax decisions impact the supply chain and the cost base of the companies he advises.
His command of Basque, alongside Spanish and English, allows him to work effectively in northern Spain and in some cross-border operations with the French Basque Country, a region with its own tax particularities requiring specific attention. He is also familiar with the Basque Economic Agreement and the Navarrese Economic Convention, the regional tax regimes that affect numerous companies operating in those communities.
He holds a Master in Taxation from the CEF, complementing his degree in Business Administration from the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU). He is expanding his knowledge in e-commerce VAT, a rapidly evolving regulatory area that presents significant compliance opportunities and risks for companies selling to end consumers across multiple EU member states.
